In late 2016 Brenthaven approached me to assist in improving the customer experience for their category pages. Some of the existing pages were not performing as well as they could be, with higher bounce rates than expected in certain categories. The goal with the new design was to turn this around.
After evaluating the existing designs, I came up with a concept that would speed up the browsability of the page. We reduced the height of the main banner area and replaced outdated third-party product images, with lifestyle shots showing the Brenthaven products in use. We then implemented a product filter functionality that stays affixed to the top of the page as the customer scrolls. With this filter functionality, customers are able to quickly dial in options such as color, price range and product type and have the category page instantly update with new product suggestions.
A quick-view screen was also implemented, providing customers with the option of quickly reviewing key product info without jumping out of the category selections.
